Medieval Clash is the English translation of the Estonian game "Tornimäe." It's a simple and straightforward strategy game in which you defend your castle on one side of a valley while attacking the computer opponent's castle on the other side.
This game has a historical background--the valley is on the border of Estonia and Latvia in the 14th century. You control the Estonian side, and both castles attempt to dominate the valley where trees grow (the source of income for both sides).
You send out woodcutters to bring back lumber, which allows you to build other units. Foot soldiers, archers, and cavalry can attack enemy woodcutters and soldiers, and any of your soldiers can damage the enemy castle if they manage to reach it. You can also build ballistas and catapults to attack the castle directly, and you can reinforce your own castle with armor.
The graphics in Medieval Clash are well-crafted and, coupled with the subtle but effective sounds, create a convincing atmosphere. There is no music past the title screen, but the game doesn't really need any. The game presents a fun challenge until you master the computer's strategy, at which point it becomes extremely simple to win. There would be more replay value were the computer a little more intelligent.
Although Medieval Clash has a definite historical setting, it's fun to imagine different maps in different places to expand on the concept. I found the game polished and captivating, and I certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun simple strategy game.

Really original game.
very well designed. I am enthusiastic.
Just a weak point: beating the cpu is really really
easy. It shuld have the multiplayer game or a better AI to be challenging.
This game was good; when I played it the first time It was hard but when it slowly came to me. There is lots of replayability. There is a little room for improvement:
1.) Hard AI. The one on the game is so easy to beat at the beginning you could already make out its strategy.
2.) Random Maps and Story Campaigns. Replayability is nice, but it gets boring and boring because there is no follow-up story, nor a random map each time.
Those are only the bad things on the game. Except for that, I'd say its very good. Sure would like a
First let me say that that was AWESOME! There are just a few things I would change:
1) The AI is easy! Even on hard, my tower never took any damage!
2) It would be cool to have more randomness as far as the map goes.
3) Two player mode would be cool...
Cool game! I think there's a nice variety in what tactics you can use. If this were two player, there'd be a wild combination of reflex and strategy skills.
Simply amazing. I got this one day while searching for some decent GM games and I came across this great website (I can't believe in the 3 years I've been using GM I never went to it before, it's easy to find) and found this in the Strategy section. I spent a couple hours glued to it. It is really original, and...well, just a hell of a lot of fun.
Graphics: 7/10
Audio: 6/10 (Not that the audio is particularly bad, there just isn't really much of it, but I do like the music at the beginning, and the bird-chirping makes for good atmosphere.)
Gameplay: 8/10
Overall: 8/10
I'm very sorry to say this, but this game does have a downfall. Many others have said this: the AI is not much of a challenge at all. I always win with perfect or near-perfect health (but mind you, this doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it). And yes, I really wish you could play against another human. But overall, this game definitely is a good one, and should be a classic in my opinion (and not just a classic among GM games). Congratulations.
P.S. Some people have said there should be fan games made. I'm currently working on one called Praelior (Latin for 'to do battle'). It has three resources: Food, Wood, and Gold, not just Money. You get food from pigs and sheep, and wood from trees, of course. Gold is bought with a sum of the other two resources. There are no wooden castle-guards to protect from catapults (in my game there is no cannon, just catapult) but you can hire a repairman or erect a gate. You can play against another human player (either on the same computer, or on two separate ones via IPX or TCP/IP) and I've tried to improve the AI. I've created all the graphics myself, and they are in a different style and a tad bloody. I've also composed music specially for the game. I hope it is as good as Medieval Clash; it is not meant to outdo it, it is really only a tribute to it.
It's a very interesting very good game. It has a great amount of strategy but I personally found it a bit slow and boring (but of course that is the same with all strategy games)
Very good game. I like the idea of it. Yet, the only problem I have with it is, is that the game should have different castles to choose from, and more things to be able to build.
I certainly enjoyed this game. I was impressed with the subtlety of it, it's rather refreshing. I'm thinking that a two player mode would have made up for the poor computer AI, however, that might also expose the lack of real strategic depth to it as well. Perhaps a few random elements would give it more longevity.
AWESOME GAME! I loved everything about it. I strongly think taht you should try to make a 2.0 with more soldiers or maybe more castles. (Somehow :P) I give it a 9.
A brilliant RPG experience. This the best RPG I've ever seen on this bard. The %100 original gameplay makes it a great game to get. The one aspect of this game that strikes me as not so good is the CPU. The CPU is great though for a Game MAker game. I've never seen any other actual RPG with a computer player that can play.
Wow, great game, I just wish there was a little more variety and a 2-player mode. I'm going to try some of the Medival Clash clones now and see if they are any good.
This an extremely good example of just what Game maker can achieve. in fact, this game is so original and inspiring i've put it on my website:

I suck at this game, but it's really fun stuff. :D Nice style in graphics. This is a good idea for a game, and you turned it into a game. :) Nice work man.
Strategy games are rare... and good strategy games are very rarely. But this game is one of the good strategy games... and this fact has deserved a high rating... 8 points!
Oh, this is a fun, almost puzzle-like game. If you like lethargic but fun and intersting gameplay, try bacteria and its sequel. I like the historical background, too.
This game is not bad. graphics are not to my liking but gameplay keeps you on your toes. the game is all about timing and strategy and that is why i didn't give it like a 3. but the graphics need improvment and there needs to be more lvl variety. and wat about powerups or something. it just gets boring after a while. but i like at the title screen with the little archers shooting each other. lol!! decent game though. make seaqul
Since it came out years ago, I've loved this game. I guess you could call it one of the 'forefathers' of it's type, as many games have come along since that imitate it. GO KAREL!
I love this game. all of the graphics are good it is very fun. I think that it could be a little bit more balanced. Maybe make it so that the stronger things do alot more damage. It just felt like the battles lasted to long.
Excalibur
Wow! I love this game! I made a fan game, but I can't find a site that will host it for free! Please help! Anyway, this game rocks. It inspired me to make more strategy games. Download it or you're missing out!
This game is hands down one of the most addictive GM games out there. Fun and customizable, you will come back to play this game long after you have mastered it. Easily would have gotten a 9, or maybe even a 10, had the graphics been better and had there been a few more game modes. Great game though, and worth the download.
